  • FDM’s Getting Back to Business Programme:  a Year of Success

Written by Sarah Pentland, Digital Content Coordinator | 3 July, 2017FDM’s Getting Back to Business Programme:  a Year of Success

A year ago FDM launched the Getting Back to Business Programme in the UK, and it has experienced ever increasing success ever since. Initially implemented in the London Academy, the Programme has helped more than 30 men and women return to the workplace and is now expanding to our Glasgow Academy.

Aiming to help professionals who have taken a career break return to the workplace, the Getting Back to Business Programme provides returners with seven weeks of industry-recognised training before placing them with one of our blue-chip clients across a variety of sectors including finance, charity and public organisations.

The fully funded training focuses on re-skilling, upskilling and building the confidence of Trainees to allow them to re-enter the workplace in a project management, project support or business analyst role. Having successfully completed training, FDM Consultants are then placed onsite with one of our 180 clients.

The Getting Back to Business Programme provides returners with a minimum two year commitment after their training is complete, after which Consultants can transition permanently to the client, advance to become a Senior Consultant with FDM or take on a new challenge having re-established their career through the Programme.

While out on site our Consultants receive ongoing pastoral care and technical support to help them adjust to the workplace, the role and make an impact on client projects from day one.  Our support network includes Relationship Managers, the Consultant Peer Support network and our Mentoring Programme.

The Getting Back to Business Programme stems from FDM’s Women in IT initiative and highlights our continued commitment to improving gender balance in the IT sector. The programme aims to assist our clients in creating their own diverse teams and redress gender imbalances.

Following the success of the first year of the Getting Back to Business Programme in London, the Programme will now be extend to Glasgow with our training beginning on the 17th July. We are looking forward to helping more people return to the workplace across the UK.

FDM’s Head of Getting Back to Business Programme, Jenny Holmes said “It has been an exciting year and we have seen the Programme grow from strength to strength as clients start to recognise the value of the returner and the qualities they have to offer”.
