Women in IT

The lack of women in IT has been an ongoing issue for many years; for example, only 14.4% of computing professionals in the UK are women.  FDM is dedicated to recruiting more female candidates and aims to support its female employees and help them to progress in a male-dominated industry.

Female Champions

FDM Female Champions act as role models to women both internally and externally, and are on hand to offer mentorship and advice to employees at all levels. They offer guidance and support to internal staff and organize external networking sessions and ‘Women in IT’ events that are open to all.

United Nations Women's Empowerment Principles

FDM has signed the CEO Statement of Support for the United Nations Women's Empowerment Principles (UNWEP), sealing its commitment to promoting gender diversity in the workplace and wider business community.

The UNWEP is a partnership initiative between UN Women and UN Global Compact and aims to empower women to participate fully in economic life across all sectors and throughout all levels of economic activity.

Women in IT – Events

To directly benefit female graduates and military veterans seeking to break into the IT industry, FDM hosts periodic ‘Women in IT Advantage Sessions.' These sessions include representatives from key organizations who champion women, providing opportunities for networking and mentorship among ladies working in technology.

In October 2012, FDM hosted a sponsored event for NYTechWomen. Founder Jennifer Shaw reflects:

“FDM's commitment to supporting women in technology is proven over and over through their continued support of NYTechWomen. They are an encouraging and thoughtful group, dedicated to seeing successful technical women all over the world. They have supported our events, encouraged our members and most importantly, been a wonderful resource to our organization as we broaden our reach in helping and connecting women in NYC throughout all facets of technology. We wouldn't be where we are today without their support!”
