    Citigroup

    The Challenge

Citigroup needed to re-engineer its Global Prime Finance technology platform. Part of the strategic review involved replacing the existing International Stock Record System and migrating all the data into a new / improved system. FDM Group was chosen for this project and tasked with delivering successful results within strict timescales. In order to meet the deadline, selecting the right team of Consultants was crucial.

    The Solution

Three experienced FDM Technical Team Leaders were assigned to the project, as well as a number of Java and .NET Developers. In order to retire the existing system, these teams worked on developing a new platform and several interfaces, as well as the enquiry and reporting functionality. The requirements were split into multiple projects, running concurrently, to make the best use of time.

    The Outcome

FDM managed three teams that were integrated with Citigroup’s technical and business employees, as one seamless overall project solution. The blended mix of skills brought in by FDM Consultants led to a skills transfer from the more senior Consultants to all project team members, delivering long-term benefits as well as keeping costs down.

    UBS

    The Challenge

A testing team within UBS’s Equity Finance Division needed to consolidate their team to a single vendor. At the time the team was a mixture of outsourced and high rate contract resources and UBS needed to bring down the overall cost of the team.

    The Solution

UBS wanted to use a single vendor model and FDM was well positioned with its training and Consultant Model. FDM was able to take ownership of the project with multiple vendors on behalf of UBS. With the ability to provide continuity over a minimum two-year period, FDM supplied a team of home-grown, trained Test Analysts, with skillsets including HP Quality Center, Quick Test Professional, SQL Script Analysis, Unix Commands, MS Excel Access and Word, to perform testing of multiple trade related applications, including the management of decommissioning of an external system.

    The Outcome

The work was completed on schedule and at a cost saving to UBS. FDM created a stable test environment which can now be fully outsourced and offshored. FDM’s lead Consultant Tester is currently in his third year with UBS and adds much to the divisions testing services.

    Sirius XM Radio

    The Challenge

At the time Sirius XM Radio did not have a strong graduate recruiting process in place and were largely reliant on high rate contractors. This made it difficult to ensure that knowledge was retained internally. With no structured college graduate program, Sirius also found that it was a challenge to build the technology workforce from the ground up.

    The Solution

Sirius XM Radio utilized FDM’s program to provide them with qualified graduate level resources, which they can mold and retain on flexible terms for two years. FDM supplied a team of locally recruited graduates trained through FDM’s award-winning program in Software Development, with skill sets including Java, .NET, SQL script analysis, UNIX Commands, Frameworks, MS Excel, Access and Word.

    The Outcome

The engagement developed was a two-year commitment between Sirius XM Radio and the FDM Group. Upon completion of year one, FDM team members transitioned to working on Supply Chain Development and User Web Interface Development. They have been so successful and added enough value that a number of them will convert to full time employees once their two years are complete.

    Murex

    The Challenge

Murex North America was struggling with the recruitment of recent college graduates with the required skill sets due to the highly technical and proprietary nature of the MX.3 environment. While seeking to add more junior talent to their teams, they also required that candidates have sufficient working knowledge of the Murex platform. Without an internal training program of their own, Murex sought a recruitment and training solution.

    The Solution

FDM proved to be an excellent fit to meet the needs that Murex demonstrated. Through a strategic partnership with Murex, FDM trainers are fully certified to train the MX.3 SDA program, which is delivered alongside FDM’s standard Application Support program. Already equipped with the Academy recruitment and training resources, FDM was prepared to deliver talented college graduates that met the specific needs of Murex for internal positions.

    The Outcome

FDM recruited, selected, and trained nine trainees through this inaugural Murex course in New York. All nine were deployed for integration into Murex offices in New York and Toronto. Subsequent classes have continued this tailored training, with an additional 10 FDM Consultants being deployed to the Murex offices and also to Murex clients across North America, with more trainees in the pipeline.
