August has heralded in great news for FDM with the announcement of our selection by the Ministry of Defence for a Gold Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. FDM are one of only 33 companies that have been selected for this honour, which comes in recognition of our support for the armed forces community and commitment to the principals of the armed forces covenant.
Through our ex forces programme, which was launched 3 years ago, we have helped over 300 people start new careers as FDM consultants . The programme provides training and support for those leaving the forces before placing them in full time roles with one of our 180+ blue chip clients.
Recognising this achievement, Rod Flavell, CEO, FDM Group said: “It’s a great honour to receive this Gold award in recognition of our commitment to the Armed Forces. We are passionate about enabling ex-service personnel to start new careers in IT and project management, and overseeing their transition to the commercial world. We’re grateful for the support that the programme has been given by every branch of the Armed Forces and the various organisations we work alongside; in particular, the White Ensign Association, Walking With The Wounded, PTSD Resolution, Blesma, the Officer’s Association and the Career Transition Partnership.”
The Ex-Forces Programme in the UK and Veterans programme in the US continue to go from strength-to-strength and we hope this new award will help us launch more second careers in IT for more Ex-Forces men and women in the coming years.
Ex-forces consultant Ruaridh McIntyre said: “FDM training shows you that you have all the skills already, it’s all about realising your own potential and FDM ensure that you do.” Read more Ruaridh’s transition journey from the Army to FDM now.
Having spent 17 years working for the MoD Lindsay Stewart noted “I was impressed not only with FDM’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant but also to their Women in IT initiative.”
