Fun fact: I love most sports but tennis is my passion and I’ve been lucky enough to take a few practice shots on centre court at Wimbledon!
I’ve been at FDM for over four years, having previously worked in the university sector. I always say that I have the best job in the company because I get to work in a beautiful central London office with fabulous views of the Thames half of the time and the rest of the time on university campus where I feel naturally at home!
Top tip: Recruiters will want to see that you are genuinely interested in this industry and that you keep up to date with technology developments. Not a day goes by without an industry story so reading blogs, news apps and tech publications are an essential part of your job search strategy. Share these with us and show that you are thinking about how these will impact the sector and recruiters will immediately be able to see your motivation. Also, make the most of your time at university. We receive thousands of applications so stand out by telling us about your extra-curricular activities – clubs and societies, voluntary work and jobs on campus – anything that shows you have been involved in your university community.
Ruth Varga – Graduate Recruiter
Originally from: Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
Fun fact: I’m a quarter Hungarian and I love traveling to new places
I have been with FDM for a couple of months now, everyone has been so welcoming and it is such a fantastic team to be a part of! Each recruiter has the opportunity to really get to know and build a relationship with their candidates. This sets us apart from other recruitment companies as it feels more personal to both the recruiter and the candidate.
Top tip: Here at FDM we look for people who are passionate about joining the tech industry. When it comes to interviews, make sure you use examples; they allow the interviewer to see how you have demonstrated certain skills which means they can see whether you are a good fit for the role.
Shaun Keefe – Senior Graduate Recruiter
Originally from: Chislehurst, South East London.
Fun fact: I like long walks along the Thames and collecting novelty ties
The recruitment team is full of great characters and people I’ve shared many memories with and consider friends. Events like the consultant party, our annual recruitment conference and the Cumbrian Challenge are particular highlights.
Top tip: We look for candidates who display the FDM core strengths, such as drive and resilience. We also look for someone who shows potential, is eager to learn and has a passion for technology. Don’t let the fact your degree isn’t in the field you have an interest in stop you from launching a career, understand the potential you have as a person rather than just your degree.
Megan Slaney – Graduate Recruitment and University Partnerships Consultant
Originally from: Watford, North West London
Fun fact: I’m a shopaholic and I love exploring new places to eat
Part of my role is taking graduates through the recruitment process from initial application to receiving a job offer on FDM’s graduate programme. The other part of my job, which I love, involves going out on to university campuses, attending careers fairs and delivering workshops on key employability skills. The FDM culture is very social and I love my team - we had a great bowling night last week!
Top tip: Our biggest goal as a team is to recruit motivated candidates who want to create change and work with some large companies on exciting ground breaking technological projects. Our candidates need great communication skills to be a consultant alongside a passion for IT. My advice to anyone attending an assessment centre is to prepare for tests in advance and be yourself in your interviews – always remember examples!
Magdalena Rewt – Graduate Recruiter

Fun fact: I love activities that will challenge me like crazy golf, go karting or rock climbing
Everyone at FDM is friendly and here to help. If you have a goal and want to be somewhere in five years’ time then we’ll help you make that happen, so don’t be afraid to have a chat with us.
I really enjoy going out for team lunches, recently we’ve been watching Wimbledon on the big screen. We’re lucky to be located in such a vibrant area so we make the most out of it.
Top tip: When I look for candidates to join the programme, I always ask what their interests and goals for the future are. It shows a lot about their passion and drive and it’s also a good way to connect with someone. Be yourself and make sure you show your personality.
Tolani Ogunlaiye – Graduate Recruitment and University Partnerships Consultant
Originally from: Rainham, Essex
Fun fact: I was a finalist in a martial arts tournament, competing on a national scale
I think what sets FDM recruiting apart from other companies is that we hire from any academic background and can help graduates start their career in either technical or business consultancy. My favourite memory with FDM so far is coming fourth in the Cumbrian Challenge, completing three peaks within six hours and raising over £1,000 for charity.
Top tip: There are many attributes I look for when recruiting candidates for the programme such as being strategically aware and driven, as well as having a logical mind-set. When applying for any role, make sure you have a good understanding of the role you’re applying for and try and align your values with that of the company.
Sarah Parkinson – Recruitment Manager, Getting Back to Business Programme
Originally from: Newcastle, Tyne and Wear
Fun fact: I love to cook, travel and learn new languages
I have been with the Getting Back to Business team from the beginning, so to have seen it go from just me and our first course of four trainees, to now over 100 consultants across the UK and a team of five internally feels amazing. It is really nice to have been a part of helping so many talented people get back into work. I have met some great people and built close relationships with them and that is what this programme is all about.
Top tip: The main thing we are looking for is a positive and flexible attitude as these are really important to being a successful consultant – everything else, we can train you in! You are not as rusty as you think! You will be surprised how quickly everything comes back, so even if you have lost your confidence, pluck up the courage and apply!
Lauren Gillett – Graduate Recruitment and University Partnership Consultant
Originally from: Preston, Lancashire
Fun fact: I write a mental health blog, play for a women’s football team and I am an incredibly proud Northerner
One of the things that attracted me to FDM (yes I was recruited too) was the values that the company hold. It’s really hard to enjoy work if one of your principles, values or beliefs is compromised by the place that pays your wages. I love FDM because it believes in people – I’m one of those people that believes that everyone is an undiscovered star in the making.
Top tip: My biggest piece of advice to those wanting to launch their career would be to know your worth, don’t doubt yourself and don’t be afraid to carry on learning. Whether that be through work experience, further training or via the FDM careers programme - where you can do both.
