The CPS Program ensures that when a new consultant is placed on-site, they are connected with a more senior FDM consultant already working with that client to help ease their transition. During your training at FDM you will develop the ability to write code that is modular, robust, scalable and maintainable to a professional standard. You will also write code that can be easily modified to meet changing client requirements. Software developers at FDM may also add functionality to applications by designing and implementing solutions. This role is ideal for analytical problem solvers with a passion for following the latest technology trends.

”My day-to-day role at Datacash involved the implementation of new functionality for a global payment gateway. This covered various stages in the lifecycle including design, implementation and release. Languages used included Java, Perl, SQL and some shell scripting for server side development, as well as client-side web development (HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.). My experience on-site has been very positive. I’ve learned a substantial amount, my projects have been interesting and everyone here has been extremely supportive. If you’re looking for a way into the industry, even without a degree in computer science, FDM is an excellent way to start your career.”

Software Testing

Software Testing

A software test analyst is heavily involved in all aspects of the IT project lifecycle assuring the quality of requirements, design documents and software applications. Testers complete detailed reviews of project documentation, write test procedures and use various tools to ensure that quality and performance meet expectations at every phase of the project. FDM test consultants work across a range of projects which use a variety of different delivery models (e.g. Agile and Waterfall) and involve testing different software solutions (e.g. websites, mobile apps, content management systems). This role is ideal for STEM graduates who are passionate about technology and are familiar with programming. As a software test analyst you will develop cross functional skills relevant to all aspects of solution delivery. This could prepare you to progress into senior leadership roles such as test manager or more technical roles such as automated test engineer or performance test analyst.

IT Service Management

IT Service Management (ITSM) analysts manage our clients’ IT systems and applications ensuring availability, often involved with a blend of programming and administration. You will work with various stakeholders to deal with technical issues by analyzing, diagnosing, and then either solving or referring them. The role incorporates a balance of technical expertise, business knowledge, analytical ability and excellent communication skills.

“I am part of the fixed income credit support team within PTG (Problem and Testing Group). The main tasks include supporting the many trading platforms the company uses to trade. It requires working under pressure and solving problems on a daily basis, as well as showing a good understanding of finance. This is a global support team so I am also in regular contact with people in the US and Singapore to try and maintain continuity of the business if issues do arise. FDM has provided this amazing opportunity to work within an investment bank straight after graduating that I would never have been able to do otherwise.”

DevOps Engineers focus on creating solutions using tools and automation to improve operations. DevOps roles can involve a myriad a projects, such as: enhancing and streamlining operational processes though automation and integration; modifying existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or to improve performance; analyzing user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints; using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design; and much more.

Business Analysis

Business analysts are the architects behind IT projects. This role involves understanding the needs of the business user and translating these requirements into technology for the development team. As a business analyst you will work with a wide range of people across the business, identifying areas of improvement and finding solutions. You will also capture and understand the business needs, assess the impact of those changes, as well as support the communication and delivery of the requirements. This role is ideal for individuals who are organized and methodical, with strong communication skills and resourceful problem solving abilities.

Business Intelligence

Business intelligence developers work closely with the business to understand how it operates, identifying areas to target in order to drive improvements through developing analytics. Project Support Office

Project support officers support the planning, management and control of key projects, working alongside senior project managers and/or program managers. This role involves project risk planning, critical path analysis, stakeholder management and reporting, and utilization of agile project delivery methods to ensure that each project is completed on time and in line with the objectives. Key tasks also include improving efficiency and cutting business costs. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for business and a degree related to management, finance, economics or similar. You should also have the drive to develop and control projects within a fast-paced environment.

My name is Elizabeth Sherman and I am placed with the New York Property Insurance Underwriting Association that we typically shorten up to NYPIUA. Officially I was hired as a Junior Software Developer, but they really started me out in app support for one particular ECM application.

Honestly looking back now, it was a really good way to get started because I learned how the application worked, how it was used, how users interacted with it, and a lot of places where it could be improved. If you’re in one of the other software, and you pull up a modal window of the application that I’m in charge of, I know what to look for and I know what to plan for and that’s been really helpful.

It was easier with an app support background to take on that responsibility because I understood how the users interacted with it. It all kind of fit together like a puzzle, and it was easy to move up from there.

I wanted something where I could get a nice easy start, where I could you know, show my abilities, learn, you know, develop myself a little bit.

It was a little bit scary in the beginning because you know you’re still young and fresh right out of the right out of university, but the people, the environment, the culture, the vibe, if we can call it that was great from day.

One thousands of little possibilities as to what to do at FDM, whether it’s coming in and doing the streamlined straight approach to a client, which then leads to coming back and doing another project somewhere else, or leads to, you know, you staying at that client and becoming a customer of FDM at some point or whether it, you know, goes more down the line of turning into an internal staff member, whether it’s in sales, in recruiting, in training, you know there’s a lot of different possibilities and they don’t just stop at those that I just mentioned.

You know I was given an opportunity and that’s, I guess, it all boils down to that you know. FDM is about giving people opportunities, I was given an opportunity.

Coming in there’s always changes, there’s always things moving, it’s fast paced, and as long as you’re willing to put in the time and the work, I guess the opportunities are endless, but that sounds kind of cliché, but that’s the way it is here.

My name’s Amy. I grew up born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I went to school at Baruch College, majoring in statistics and quantitative modelling.

I think the work-life or the culture at FDM is really fun and light. Everyone is easy to talk to, and I always felt comfortable asking for help, or meeting new people, or just reaching out. Even after I was on-site, I’ve had trainers email me just asking how I was doing. It’s a very fast-paced training and also a wide range of knowledge.

The trainers here are very experienced, I think that was the most important part. Just because trainers will apply real-world examples and experiences from things that they have learned.

If you want to grow your network and you love making friends, meeting new people – which I think is very important – and just gain a broader and wider range of knowledge and continue learning, I think FDM is the smartest choice.

I’m Syed Hague. I’m a recent graduate from Hunter College with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a minor in mathematics. The relationships that you cultivate here, you’re put into a group of people that are like-minded. They’re trying to start their career and that’s something you can latch on with, and just seeing the professional development that you can have. I very much appreciated that and that’s why I stayed and, you know, decided to go all the way with FDM.

The trainers at FDM, honestly, they’re awesome. Like, I really enjoyed learning from them and any kind of questions that you have, any kind of technical questions, they can answer everything. They’ve been in the field for a long time. FDM’s training, I would say, is definitely top class.

I felt that I learned a lot and that carried on through the entire training program. I learned so much that I possibly didn’t think I could in such a short period of time, so I think it’s amazing.
