The FDM Birmingham Academy officially opened its doors at the tail end of 2017, and although still in its early stages, it has so far launched the careers of over 37 people.

As the second largest city in the UK, Birmingham is really giving London a run for its money in both the business and social scene. For those who are looking to move to the city or even just want to learn more, our guide can provide you with a host of opportunities in this beautiful city. From restaurants, bars, shopping, events, and other must-sees, we are sure you won’t get bored anytime soon.

The Food

If you’re a foodie, then Birmingham is the place to be. There are several fine dining eateries as well as well-known chains in Brindleyplace. With a wide variety of food options from around the world, it’s safe to say there is something to suit all tastes. The city is also home to the famous Cadbury World, as well as the delicious curry mile or Balti Triangle which is the hub for Indian cuisine, fabric and fashion.

The Shopping

For those who love to shop, the Bullring is located in the city centre and is one of the largest shopping centres in the UK, with over 200 shops offering a range of both high street brands and independent shops.

The Events

Birmingham is home to the NEC, the UK’s number one venue for shows, exhibitions, meetings and events. From technology events to fashion shows, there is definitely something for everyone. If you’re a sports fan, the city has several venues to enjoy participating or watching sports, including Arena Birmingham, Alexander Stadium, Villa Park, Edgbaston Cricket Ground and the Genting Arena. Birmingham is also home to the UK’s oldest cinema, where better to watch the newest releases, recline on a luxury sofa and be waited upon?

The Nightlife

If you’re looking for a city with a good nightlife, Birmingham definitely won’t disappoint. Broad Street has it all, from intimate canal-side bars like Mooch Bar to huge nightclubs such as PRYZM, playing a variety of music over four floors.

Must see’s

Looking to get out and explore nature at its finest? Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens should be at the top of your list. The gardens are close to the centre of Birmingham and are open 365 days a year.  With 15 acres of landscaped greenery, there’s no better moment than the present to get out and explore. If you’re looking for something different, diverse and fun to do, then look no further than the Custard Factory, the UK’s leading destination for creative and digital businesses, independent shops and alternative culture.
