Six Months of Success for FDM Down Under

FDM’s expansion into Australia kicked off in January 2017 with the first class training in a pop-up academy in Sydney. Nine trainees underwent the 14-week Murex programme and are now all on-site with clients in Sydney and Melbourne. This expansion is an exciting time for us at FDM as we grow into a region far removed from our humble beginnings in a Brighton loft 26 years ago.

The second course to be run out of the Sydney pop-up academy will be a java development course starting on 31st July followed by a business analysis class shortly after.

There are currently 15 consultants on-site in Australia and we are working in three different territories with consultants placed across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. We have also found roles for a number of successful FDM alumni and have our first ex-forces consultants starting on-site in September.

Bahar Nazari, placed with KPMG in Sydney says:

“I was part of the first group of FDM graduates to go through the training in Australia. The 14-week course was intense but it was a great experience and a good chance to meet FDM trainers from all over the world. I am currently placed as an IT consultant providing technology consulting to KPMG’s clients.”

Having seen 100% growth in APAC over the last two years, we are determined to continue with a number of initiatives such as the Ex-Forces Programme and the Getting Back to Business Programme in Australia. We are also working hard to secure more opportunities for females in tech.

FDM APAC Manager James Tuttiett says, “With the youth unemployment rate at 18% in Australia*, the highest in 40 years, we hope that as a company we can help local Australians break into the technology industry and forge fantastic careers.”

Rod Flavell, Chief Executive Officer at FDM Group explains: “This is such an exciting time for us; our work in Australia complements our growth in the Asia Pacific region. Through our research and connections with clients, we know there is a real demand for good people with IT skills in the region.”

In the coming months, FDM will be looking for permanent space down under so keep your eyes peeled as we continue to expand.
