My background

I wanted to be a musician growing up and studied Advertising at the University of Arts in London. During university, “Fintech” was everywhere in the media. I was fascinated by how quickly the industry was growing and how fundamental it had become to global economies. It made me curious about how technology was embedded into everyday life, how it worked, and the possibilities it presented. That curiosity eventually led me to a career in technology.

I joined FDM, which was the perfect bridge, completing two assignments on cloud transformation projects at a large global bank, and in the public sector.

New beginnings

I spent the next seven years working for a leading global bank, first as a project manager and then moving into product management. I then decided to take a break and for the next one year, travelled across Europe, North America and East Asia, to reset and decide the next steps for my career.

I’m currently working as the Product Lead for a DevEx tooling platform that helps engineers to build new integrations faster, whilst maintaining security and quality standards. track our sprints and ensure our backlog is always up to date and prioritised ready for our engineering team to pick up. I also spend some time completing reporting to ensure wider stakeholders are aware of our progress, risks and dependencies. I spend a lot of time understanding the challenges we’re trying to solve, engaging with customers to create solutions and building a roadmap to meet customer demand and business outcomes.

What I did this week

Monday

Daily standup with engineering team to review sprint progress and complete reporting for stakeholder review.

Tuesday

Tech meetings with customers to understand pain points, internal sales and strategy session.

Wednesday

Went to the London office for a critical in-person meeting.

Thursday

Meeting with the Principal Engineer to align on scope for new requirements.

Friday

Attended a tech conference and brought back valuable insights for our product strategy.

When I’m not working…

I usually spend my weekends going to the forest to walk my dog, cooking or meeting family and friends for lunch.

In five years…

I’m interested in a number of social impact subjects such as social equity/sustainability, so I hope to be making a difference in that space. On the personal front, I want to be living in the English countryside, with a scenic view of the hills!

My top three takeaways
