We are excited to announce FDM Group has been ranked one of the Top 50 employers in the UK’s first-ever Social Mobility Index. In recognition of our continued work to enable those from lower socio-economic backgrounds to succeed FDM has been ranked 47th in the Index.

The Social Mobility Employer Index is a joint venture between the Social Mobility Foundation and Social Mobility Commission in partnership with the City of London Corporation. For the first time Britain’s employers will be ranked on their actions to ensure access for and progression of talent from all backgrounds.  Aiming to showcase which industries and companies are taking social mobility most seriously and encourage companies to share their initiatives, the Index was decided by a panel of experts and all forms will receive a report highlights areas of improvement.

Rod Flavell, FDM Group Chief Executive Officer, says of the listing “I’m delighted that FDM Group has been recognised for the inclusive culture that we nurture in the company. Our objective is to find people with ambition, potential and the aptitude to succeed. For us, it’s not about what you are; it’s about who you are and what you can become. Having a diverse and inclusive employee base brings great advantages including diversity of thought and creativity in the team.”

FDM’s current work to improve social mobility includes being degree agnostic and recruiting from a wide range of universities, using strength based interviewing and ensuring our recruitment teams have undergone unconscious bias training. In 2016, the FDM started the careers of over 1000 people in the UK alone. Worldwide, the company employs 4,000 people. It has over 75 nationalities working together and of its UK 2016 intake 31% were the first in their family to attend university and 56% attended a state school. 26% of its employees and almost 50% of its senior management team are women.
