Alumni Stories: Trina Mistry

Our Alumni Network serves as an incredible showcase of the talent we see pass through our Academy doors. Trina Mistry joined our London Academy back in 2017 and is now permanent with Morgan Stanley in a Project Manager role.

I came into FDM’s Graduate Programme to originally study Risk, Regulation and Compliance. After collaborating with FDM’s Account Managers and Trainers, we discussed the range of skills I had to offer and discovered I’d be well-suited to launch a career in business! Having the opportunity to expand my skillset allowed me to secure a fantastic position with Morgan Stanley, which was my second placement with FDM before going permanent with the company earlier this year. My day-to-day role is a mix between project and portfolio management, which allows me to experience different areas of the business. I’m currently exploring transforming projects into Agile and Scrum Master work. I look forward to moving into this type of work and adding more data analysis to my repertoire.

The team I work with has helped me put my knowledge into practice and provided me with materials to learn. I have a varied role and my manager is keen for me to try lots of different tasks. It’s great to know that I have the opportunity to explore the field and see what suits me best, an example being when I recently mentioned to my manager that I was interested in learning Python. He couldn’t have been more supportive, and it’s stimulating to have a manager that champions for your development. Here at Morgan Stanley, there are plenty of FDMers who are now permanent with us.

During my two-year period with FDM, I was very grateful for their Consultant Peer Support Programme (CPS), as it was a great way to meet new faces in the company and ensure that new starters know they are supported by a network around them, ready to give advice. The CPS team organised drinks, social events and team lunches. I recently attended an alumni event in London, which was an amazing chance to bump into old faces. It’s good to know that FDM values their relationships with their former consultants. I’m proud to see more people come through FDM’s training programme and witness how the company has evolved.
