FDM Group offers graduates and Ex-Forces personnel an opportunity to discover a career outside of their comfort zone, and offers returners the chance to re-discover their passion for a chosen subject.  Our business programme is one of our most popular courses, and runs across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. But what does the programme entail? Take a look at this handy blog to get an understanding of each FDM stream, and see where your strengths could lie in the business industry.

Our business and technical pathways both begin with a six to 14-week training programme, depending on the specific pathway you choose. On the business pathway, you will start with a Professional Skills course, which aims to go through your CV, interview techniques and work place etiquette. Our business training also includes Business Fundamentals and an Excel course, which will act as a bolt on your CV and will help immensely when you head out on-site.

 Risk, Regulation and Compliance (RRC)

Are you…

Those in the Risk, Regulation and Compliance field serve as an essential part of any organisation, providing analytical and regulatory support while responding to the combination of technological advances and increased regulation that may affect a business. Your work will ensure that the business and its employees are compliant, potentially saving the organisation from huge fines and even prosecutions.

Duties in this space include due diligence, anti-money laundering and regulatory reporting, performing risk assessments and preparing reports and detailed analysis for senior stakeholders.

Whilst most of our consultants have traditionally worked in or studied areas of financial services, there is a strong demand for their skills in other sectors including oil and gas, media and the public sector.

Keen to get deeper into risk, regulation and compliance? Check out our RRC Jargon Buster.

Project Support / Project Management

Are you…

As a Project Support/ Management Officer (PSO/ PMO) you will play a pivotal role in supporting portfolio leads as well as programme and project managers to ensure that projects are successful and business change is delivered effectively. Your duties may include project planning, risk assessments, preparing progress reports, monitoring project schedules and budgets and liaising with people across the business.

All projects and companies are different, and therefore your duties and responsibilities will vary, so you must be resilient and adaptable to meet challenging demands.

You will be someone who is forward thinking, adaptable and methodical in your approach. You will enjoy working with a large number of stakeholders across the business and will have excellent communication and people skills.

Neha Agarwal joined FDM’s Getting Back to Business programme to rediscover her passion for a career in business. She tells us a bit about her experience in our PMO Stream.

Business Analysis – BA

Are you…

A Business Analyst (BA) should be able to successfully identify and effectively communicate business needs in order to manage client projects and business change programmes. In this stream, you will learn how to understand and document business requirements, as well as assess the impact of change.

Once trained and working on client site, BA’s often progress into Senior roles. Our clients stem from a range of backgrounds, from finance to media, and they are constantly recruiting new BA’s.

Throughout our Business Analysis course, you will look at a range of topics and projects over nine weeks of training, which touches upon Financial Industry Awareness training to System Modelling Techniques, Agile Practice, Testing, Risk and Benefits Realisation. The course is broken up week by week to ensure an overall understanding of the key knowledge needed before going out on-site with a client.

Clare Evans joined our Business Analysis career stream upon leaving university. Check out her testimonial about her training in Leeds.
